What is Mindfulness?
“Mindfulness is just paying attention, deliberately, in the present moment, without judgement”
Jon Kabat-Zinn
Mindfulness can help with anxiety, stress and feeling overwhelmed. It can also help with emotional overload, insomnia and relationship issues.
Have you tried meditation and given up? If you are ready to think again, here are some helpful tips: you don’t need to sit on the floor, you don’t need to clear your mind and you don’t need to get into a particular state of mind or body. It’s just about noticing what is going on for you in the moment and this is something we can all learn.
Forget About Enlightenment
Forget about enlightenment.
Sit down wherever you are
And listen to the wind singing in your veins.
Feel the love, the longing, the fear in your bones.
Open your heart to who you are, right now,
Not who you would like to be,
Not the saint you are striving to become,
But the being right here before you, inside you, around you.
All of you is holy.
You are already more and less
Than whatever you can know.
Breathe out,
Touch in,
Let go.

and what mindfulness isn’t…
Mindfulness can be therapeutic but it’s not therapy. It’s not about fixing problems but about understanding how we react to situations in our present moment experience.
It’s not so much about getting somewhere but about appreciating where we are right now.
